How We Started
I started Lemon Business Consulting in January of 2019 after working for several W2 type jobs of varying natures in the human resource field. I started my career after graduating from Texas State with a BA in Business Management and worked my way through entry level to managerial positions in almost every job along the way.
Even though I felt like I had applied myself fully and followed all of the “right” steps I couldn’t come to terms with having a set salary determined by someone else that also controlled my schedule, how many days or hours off I can have and when, what I can wear to work etc.
I decided to try something different and work for a friend who owned small businesses where I learned how easy it is to start a business (especially in Texas) and the ins and outs of all parts of running a small business vs doing one role in a corporation. I instantly became fascinated with how easy the process can be, how much control you can have over your own schedule and life and how much the education system seems to fail at teaching us how businesses and business structures really work.
Now after several years in business I am motivated by a higher calling then just assisting with day to day bookkeeping and small business support; I want to share what I have learned about successfully running a business. I want to make it easier for everyone to navigate the nuances of business ownership in the US from tax rules to scaling your business to fit your life.
My experiences taught me several things; anyone can start a business, every business takes on the personality of it’s owners, and you need different types of personalities in a business for it to become a successful, efficient, evolving, self-reliant machine.
